More than 2,000 Jobs, Millions in Clean Energy Investments Planned

Gov. Dannel Malloy and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced yesterday that Connecticut has selected several new clean energy projects that will create more than 2,000 jobs and attract millions in new investments.

They include:

  • An offshore wind project expected to attract $15 million in investments and create more than 1,400 jobs. New London will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of the new Revolution Wind project planned by Deepwater Wind.

  • Fuel cell projects expected to create more than 600 jobs. The projects, which use chemical processes to create energy, will be located in New Britain, Colchester, Hartford, and Derby.

  • A biogas (or anaerobic digestion) project expected to create more than 500 construction and five permanent jobs.This project, which will use microorganisms to break down biodegradable material into biogas, will be located in Southington.
