  • Position Title: Southern Regional Director

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Overview: Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) is a national network of chambers of commerce and economic development organizations focused on building support for clean energy. CICE works on clean energy issues nationally and in strategic states and communities. See www.chambersforinnovation.com.

    CICE is hiring a full-time Southern Regional Director who will help build CICE’s network of chambers of commerce in Texas and other Southern states.

    Position Description: The Southern Regional Director is responsible for cultivating relationships with chambers of commerce and economic development organizations within their region, particularly in Texas.

    The Director works with these organizations by reaching out to develop relationships and educating them on clean energy issues, policies, and technologies, and energy economics and market trends. The Director will work to position chamber, economic development, and business executives as spokespeople and messengers for the economic benefits of clean energy in the region by organizing events, drafting public communications, and working with partner organizations and allies.

    This position is supported by a team of seasoned policy, outreach, and communications professionals.

    Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Working with the Executive Director to determine and implement engagement strategies for Texas and other Southern states

    • Outreach to chamber of commerce executives and economic development leaders to build relationships and trust

    • Educating and engaging chamber and economic leaders on clean energy issues, economic development opportunities associated with clean energy, and–where appropriate–climate action

    • Organizing events and meetings with chamber and economic leaders focused on the education and adoption of clean energy policies, programs, and projects

    • Interviewing chambers to learn about their clean energy efforts and authoring op-eds, reports, or publications highlighting chamber leadership

    • Attending chamber and economic development meetings and conferences to share CICE’s priorities, positions, and services

    • Collaborating with other Regional Directors on strategies, tactics, best practices, and opportunities for engagement

    • Coordinating with other business-focused organizations and allies with similar goals

    Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following experience, knowledge base, and skills:

    • At least 5 years of experience in organizing and outreach, coalition building, or public affairs

    • Experience working with or for chamber of commerces or economic development organizations

    • Outgoing, comfortable making calls to people you don’t know, and strong at relationship building, especially with the private sector and chambers of commerce

    • An understanding of the economics, policies, and political sensitivities associated with clean energy

    • An understanding of the importance of communications and messaging

    • A strong strategic mind set and proven ability to translate strategy into action

    • Demonstrated experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously

    • Flexibility to work independently and as part of a diverse team

    • Initiative and motivation work independently in a virtual business environment

    • Experience working in clean energy space or on campaigns

    • Enthusiastic to learn and contribute to advancing clean energy

    Other details:

    • Competitive not-for profit director salary, commensurate with experience

    • CICE is an all-remote organization with employees based nationwide. Candidates for this position must be based in Texas.

    • Travel averages 15-20% within Texas, with occasional travel outside the state.

  • Position Title: Director of Policy

    Position Description:

    CICE is hiring a full-time Director of Policy to lead CICE’s policy and advocacy program, develop the economic case for clean energy investment, and cultivate business community support via policy-focused events and communications.

    The Director of Policy will be responsible for explaining and championing the economic opportunities of clean energy projects, policies, and technologies, developing data-supported clean energy jobs and economic impact reports and technical articles, and acting as a public spokesperson for clean energy with chamber policy staff and clean energy advocates.

    This position is supported by a team of seasoned policy, outreach, and communications professionals.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Developing CICE’s advocacy strategy, setting priorities and addressing key issues for the business case for clean energy

    • Cultivate relationships with legislators, government officials, and their staff, positioning CICE as a resource to policymakers on clean energy issues

    • Developing and strengthening relationships with chamber of commerce and economic development policy executives, clean energy policy advocates, and lobbyists

    • Monitoring and researching current and emerging clean energy-related public policy issues and legislation that may impact businesses or state/local economies

    • Creating policy briefs, talking points, sample testimony, and other resources to express the business and economic case for clean energy

    • Developing content, speakers, and scope for clean energy policy events

    • Represent CICE at events and with task forces, committees, and coalitions

    • Work with business and right-of-center clean energy advocates on joint strategies to advance clean energy policy

    Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following experience, knowledge base, and skills:

    • At least 7 years of public policy or government affairs experience

    • Background working for or with chamber of commerce or economic development organizations

    • Strong understanding of the economics, policies, and political sensitivities associated with clean energy

    • Experience in policy research, analysis, and issue development

    • Outgoing, excited to build relationships and comfortable with cold outreach

    • Experience in the clean energy space or campaign work

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • An understanding of the importance of communications and messaging

    • Strong strategic mindset and proven ability to translate strategy into action

    • Flexibility and initiative to work both independently and as part of a team

    • Demonstrated experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously

    • Enthusiastic to learn and contribute to advancing clean energy
