Investing in Leadership: CICE at Midwest Institute 2026

Three members of the Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) team participated in the 2026 Midwest Institute for Organization Management (IOM), a premier professional development program for chamber of commerce, association, and nonprofit professionals. The event, held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison May 31-June 4, drew approximately 150 attendees, with this first-year class representing one of the largest groups the program has seen in years.

CICE’s Logan O’Neill and Jennifer Reiser

Throughout the week, professionals representing organizations of all sizes came together to learn, exchange ideas, explore emerging trends, and strengthen their leadership skills.

For CICE, participation in Midwest Institute reflects a commitment to supporting the chamber profession and remaining engaged in the networks that drive economic growth and innovation. As an organization dedicated to empowering chambers of commerce and economic development organizations, CICE recognizes the importance of investing in both people and organizations. Building strong chamber leadership also helps communities navigate complex economic development opportunities, including energy infrastructure investments, workforce growth, and business expansion.

Jennifer Reiser, CICE director of operations, and Logan O’Neill, CICE Midwest regional director, continued their service on the Midwest Institute Board of Regents, helping guide and support the Institute experience for current and future participants. Jennifer also served as a faculty member, sharing her expertise and facilitating learning alongside chamber professionals from across the region.

The program provides CICE an opportunity to stay connected to the challenges and opportunities shaping the profession.

“Our investment in this program lets us be a resource when chambers and economic development organizations seek guidance on how to have clean energy conversations,” Logan said. “For example, project development is hard right now, whether it's a clean energy project, a restaurant, or a manufacturing facility. Everyone's under a level of scrutiny we haven't seen before, driven largely by the development speed that various industries are moving due to global market factors.”

Logan, Jennifer, and Evan Kalember

Evan Kalember, CICE policy and government affairs manager, attended the program for the first time, beginning the four-year educational journey that has helped develop chamber and association leaders for decades. For Evan, the experience offered exposure to new perspectives, innovative practices, and a broad network of peers.

CICE’s long history with Institute reflects a belief that strong organizations are built through strong leadership. Whether serving as faculty, volunteering on the Board of Regents, sponsoring networking opportunities, or participating as attendees, CICE is proud to support programs that develop talent and strengthen organizations. We are also encouraged by the many chambers and associations that continue to invest in their teams, their organizations, and the communities they serve.
