The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro Hosts Electric-Themed Golf Tournament

The atmosphere at The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro’s 2024 Chamber Hendrick Golf Classic was electrifying! The theme was electrification and there was no shortage of opportunities to discuss electric vehicles, clean energy solutions for North Carolina, and other energy priorities for the business community.

The title sponsor, a local Durham, NC car dealership, was on hand to showcase their expansive range of electric vehicles. Michele Querry, CICE’s Southeast Regional Director, engaged with over 100 participants from all aspects of business. Many businesses were eager to learn more about the economic opportunities associated with the clean energy industry from installing EV chargers at tourism hot spots to implementing their sustainability and energy efficiency goals.

Several businesses in attendance are already participating in the supply chain. Whether supplying materials for the state’s second onshore wind farm, contemplating leasing a family farm for utility-scale solar development, or promoting electric vehicles, the industry is expanding and will continue to evolve.

North Carolina is attracting a growing wave of new clean energy companies, including several that have made it a key part of what's becoming known as the EV “Battery Belt" in the Southeast. The Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro has been focusing on accelerating innovation and highlighting this growing sector of North Carolina's economy at their annual golf tournament was an engaging way to highlight the recent successes of the clean energy business community.
