The Upcoming Texas Legislative Session; What it Means for Energy Policy in the Lone Star State

Texas is one of the fastest-growing states in the country, adding more residents than any other state in 2025 and boasting an economic growth rate surpassing the national rate for 25 straight years. All of this growth has implications for the state’s energy infrastructure, resulting in statewide conversations about new transmission lines, how to handle data centers, and siting new clean energy generation and storage resources. Accordingly, energy will be a major topic of discussion during the 2027 legislative session. Join CICE for an overview of what’s in store for energy policy, with a particular emphasis on clean energy, during the 2027 session.

Speakers:

  • The Honorable Drew Darby, chair of the Texas House Committee on Energy Resources

  • Douglas Peters, CCE, IOM, president and CEO, Abilene Chamber of Commerce

  • Carlos Guzman CEcD, EDFP, director of economic opportunity and development, Fort Bend County

  • Moderator: Rob Bradham, IOM, director of policy, Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy
